Confused on how to breathe during exercise? The simplest way to think about it is IN on the easy part. OUT during the hard part.

To break that down even further – focus on breathing in through the nose during the eccentric part (the yielding part) of an exercise and out through the mouth during the concentric part (during effort/exertion).

Bringing awareness to your breath can help you tune into the movement and positively affect your performance. Your heart and lunges are hard at work during your workout. If you are only getting short breaths the amount of oxygen being pushed to the muscles is limited causing an increase in heart rate and blood pressure – ultimately resulting in a less than optimal sweat sesh.

So, take this as your friendly reminder to just BREATHE, ahhhhh.
